Scratch & SMART Repair in Romford
SMART repair means Small to Medium Area Repair Technique — fixing a scratch, scuff or small chip in one localised area instead of refinishing the whole panel. We prepare just the damage, mix your colour, spray and blend it in. Faster and tidier than a full panel job where the damage is contained.

How we do it

Read the scratch
A fingernail test tells us whether the scratch is in the lacquer or through to primer or metal.

Prepare the area
Only the affected area is flatted back and primed.

Spray and fade
Colour is applied and faded outwards, then lacquered over a wider area.

Polish back
The repair is machine polished so it sits level with the surrounding paint.

What counts as a SMART repair?
Any small, contained damage — a scratch, scuff, chip or kerbed corner — that can be repaired in place rather than by refinishing the whole panel.
Can a deep scratch be repaired?
Yes, but if it has gone through to metal it needs priming and often a wider blend, which we will explain at the estimate.
Will I be able to see where the repair was?
Done properly, no. The colour is matched to your car and blended so there is no hard edge.
Is a SMART repair cheaper than a full panel?
It is a smaller job with less material and time. We do not publish prices — bring it in for a free estimate.
Can you repair scuffed bumper corners?
Yes, plastic bumper scuffs are one of the most common SMART repairs we do.
How long does it take?
Usually much quicker than a panel respray. We will give you a time when we see the damage.
